Jacob's First Tot Trot

This weekend we did Race for Riley. Mark and I did the 5K and Jacob did the tot trot. It was so cute. It was like a herd of toddlers running towards the finish line. He was quite proud of himself and has his participation ribbon to prove it :) My little man is growing up. I now get glimpses of him doing things or saying things and I am like wow he is not a baby anymore he is little person.  I can't get over how fast 2 years have gone.

Hanging Out in PTC

So today we didn't do anything too special but it was a good day. We got Jacob a new tennis racket at Target since his old one bit the dust in New Orleans after falling off the car into oncoming traffic (opps mommy's fault). We played some hardcore tennis with Mamaw and then hit the playground and built up a BIG appetite. Then we finished up the morning at ABC one of our favorite sumo (how Jacob says sandwich) places. By the way Jacob has officially outgrown their highchairs and was lucky to get out of the one mommy wedged him into today unscathed (oww fancy word). We are glad to have Mamaw and Pawpaw back in town. They both try to squeeze in time with Noah in between death glares from Jacob :) Here are some pics from the day. One of the highlights was Noah's first swing ride- pretty good for 12 weeks.

Just too Cute!

The new Michelin tire baby has arrived. Wow look at the chunk on Noah. I never thought I would have such big boys!!! It is so much fun dressing the boys alike. They are going to be quite the doubles team and drive the girls crazy too ( a mother's perspective of course) This outfit was compliments of Mamaw and Pawpaw and I just love it. I know they won't let me dress them alike for very long so I will enjoy it while it last :)

2 Great Pics!

So the first pick is of Jacob caught in the act- "cleaning up the cake pan" ahhh Aunt Jenny would be proud! The second pic is of Noah and Aunt Jenny at Westminster Girls Region Play Off Match. The girls narrowly lost to GAC but will still make the final 4! Yeah Coach Jenny!!! Noahy was a great cheerleader and left Aunt Jenny with some spit up to remind her of the fun afternoon :)

Easter at the Beach!

It was a good week at the beach. Jacob was able to kind of understand the concept of the Easter bunny and baskets and eggs. He dyed eggs for the first time and it was a success. He is somewhat scared of the Easter bunny but does like the concept of opening an egg and finding a treat inside. Mamaw and Pawpaw were very generous Easter bunny helpers and both kids got amazing Easter baskets. One neat part of having little kids is you get to live your childhood all over again. Jacob went to an Easter festival in
Destin and I don't know who had more fun on the inflatible slide and obstacle course- him or I. He was quite brave, and I don't know where he got that from since both Mark and I are very cautious. I didn't like rollercoasters until I was in 18 years old but somehow I think Jacob will be on one before that:) We had a great time at the beach and packed in a ton of activities. We went to the amusement park and rode bumper boats, swings, and trains. Jacob loved his first round of putt putt golf- with the patient coaching of Mamaw. We also hit the pool and beach. Jacob was a little hesitant of the ocean despite our best attempts at telling him it would be a blast to ride the boogey board in the freezing cold water :) It is exhausting traveling with 2 kids. Today as I am at home desperately trying to catch up on laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, unpacking, ect. (which I should be doing right now since the kids are asleep) I realize that it is hard work to have fun with little ones, but looking at the pictures, I realize it is all worth it!!!

Conquered the Challenge!

So it was a great weekend in New Orleans. Despite rough conditions, super windy and 80 degree heat, Mark and Jenny successfully completed the Ironman 70.3!!! It was the first time this event had been held in New Orleans so no one knew what to expect. The swim proved to be a long one and Jenny came out with a mud beard from a slip. They both looked pretty fresh and ready for the bike. The winds were really tough on the 56 mile trek. Mark's crank on his bike broke twice so he had to push through that challenge literally as well. The run is tough simply because your legs are gone by that point. The two of them did not look the freshest after the bike, but they toughed it out and finished!!! We are so proud of them. The picture is at the finish line in Jackson Square. Jacob, Noah, Mamaw and Pawpaw overcame their own challenges during the weekend event as traveling with a 2 year old and 10 week old is never too relaxing. Jacob was introduced to sherbert which he loved, pin ball, and a Thomas the Train DVD. The DVD was a lifesaver and Jacob was fasinated as he never watches TV. Mommy would not have survived the weekend had it not been for the patient help of Mamaw and Pawpaw. Mark, Jenny and I are all considering doing the 1/2 Ironman in Augusta- stay tuned for a final decision on that.

We are headed to New Orleans for the 1/2 Ironman!! Good luck to Mark and Jenny! I know they will make us proud. Daddy tried out his new wetsuit in Lake Peachtree yesterday and Jacob was a little unsure of Daddy swimming with the duckies.  More pictures to come of this weekend's event and Destin (our favorite place for some R & R).

Jelousy Sets In

Jacob is a wonderful big brother and is so sweet and helpful 99% of the time.  But... I hate to say he is getting jelous of his brother who is getting more responsive and smiley everyday. I knew it was coming but it is still hard. I know they are going to be the best of friends and little Mark clones but no one likes to share mommy and daddy especially since Jacob has had us to himself for 2 years. Ahhh the fun begins!!!

Smiles from my boys!

It is amazing how precious those smiles are from your children. Noah was in the bumbo today looking at the doggies and gave the best grin. It is just pure joy when they smile and you can't help but smile back. When you are an adult there are so many other things to think about and worry about. I know growing up I just didn't realize how great it was to just worry about school, getting to tennis practice, the tournament that weekend. As an adult I just find much more things to worry about and my life is so incredibly blessed. As I get older I have more people in my life having health problems and going through such hard times with jobs, husbands, kids, finances. And you can just get bogged down and overwhelmed. I am trying to learn to realize when things re out of my control and pray for the situation but not to emerce myself with worry. I have a long way to go but am trying. Kids don't have worries at this age and it is nice to look at there smiles and be carefree for that moment with them.
